CHAPTER -1-OUR COVER

1.     Purpose of cancellation cover

When you cancel your trip, you are charged by the tour operator all or part of the price of the cancelled services, that is cancellation fees. These expenses gradually increase as you get closer to departure date and are calculated in accordance with a schedule specified in the brochure’s general terms of business.
Our cover provides extra reimbursement on top of the tour operator, airline company or rental organization refund. We reimburse you the cancellation fees amount contractually borne by you when you cancel your stay before departure for a valid reason under this Contract.
Concerning rentals, we grant you cover provided the rental is fully cancelled.
Warning :
All touristic services covered by this Contract, whether additional or successive, are deemed a single and same trip for which only one departure date applies : the date specified by the tour operator as starting point of all insured services.

2.   Events entitling to covere

We grant you cover when you must cancel your trip for the following reasons :

2.1            Serious illness, serious accidental bodily injury (including relapses or sudden aggravations) or death of :

a)  yourself, your spouse by law or your de facto spouse, your first ascendants or first descendants.

b)  your brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and stepdaughters, fathers-in-law and stepfathers, mothers-in-law and stepmothers,

c)  Your professional premises if you are a company manager or a professional.

d) The person appointed by you under this Agreement to travel with, and take care of, your under age children;

You must demonstrate the real nature of the situation entitling you to our services. Thus, relying on the opinion of our doctors, we reserve our right to reject your request, should the information received fail to demonstrate material facts.

2.2       Complications in connection with pregnancy

2.3      Serious physical damage caused by theft, fire, flood or a climatic event, making your
presence on spot absolutely necessary on departure date to take urgency measures
and carry out administrative steps, to more than 50% of your permanent home or country house

2.4      Serious damage caused to your vehicle 48 hours or less before your departure, in so far as you can no longer use the said vehicle to reach your place of stay.

2.5    Your redundancy or the redundancy of your spouse, provided the dismissal procedure was not already initiated as of day of subscription of this Contract.

2.6   Your hiring as waged employee or paid intern which takes effect before or during the dates planned for your trip, whereas you were a registered unemployed person, provided the said hiring is not a contract extension or renewal or an assignment for a temporary employment agency.

2.7   Any change by your employer in your holiday dates. This cover is only granted to waged employees. It is not granted to professionals, company executives or managers or legal representatives. The said holidays must be a vested benefit and must have been approved in prior by the employer.
You will be paid an indemnity less a specific deductible specified in the special terms. The said deductible also applies to the persons who registered with you. And it's 25% of your booking and it’s valid from 30 days to 1 day before your departure.

2.8   Your non disciplinary job transfer decided by your employer, forcing you to move during the term of your insured trip or 8 days before, provided you were unaware of the transfer when you took out this Contract.

2.9 Notification of child adoption appointment falling on the dates (in other words during
the term) of your insured trip, provided you were unaware of the notification when you
took out this Contract.

2.10 Cancellation for a valid reason under this Contract of one or several persons who
registered with you and who are insured under this Contract, if, due to the said
withdrawal, you must travel on your own or with just one other person.

CHAPTER 2 : Cover amount

2.1.     In no case whatsoever can compensation paid under this Contract exceed the amount of expenses charged by the tour operator under the contractual schedule(s) specified in the special terms

2.2.     We reimburse you the cancellation fee amount charged by the tour operator under the schedule specified in his general terms of business. However, our reimbursement is limited to the amount of expenses which would have been charged to you under the said schedule if you had informed the tour operator within 48 hours from the event entitling you to our cover.
The handling fee, tip and visa expenses as well as the premium paid in consideration for the subscription of this Contract are non-refundable.

2.3.     A deductible of 38€ per handling fee is always deducted from the indemnity owed to you.

CHAPTER -3- : Cover application terms

3.1.     The cover must be taken out and registered with Travelhorizon on day of reservation of stay for which coverage is requested or at the latest before application of the cancellation fee schedule specified in the tour operator’s terms of sale.

3.2.     The cover takes effect on the 1st application day of the cancellation fee schedule, or on the day this Contract is taken out if the said subscription is made subsequently, and expires on the exact time the first insured service takes effect.

3.3.     There can be no combined application of the cancellation cover with other covers.

CHAPTER -4-    What you must do in case of loss

Inform your tour operator of your withdrawal by using the quickest means (fax, email to service_client@travelhorizon.com,wire, statement to the agent) as soon as the event covered by this Contract and preventing you from travelling arises, or within 48 hours at the latest.

Warning :
Should you fail to inform within the said period the tour operator of your intention to withdraw, we will only reimburse the cancellation fees contractually payable on the date of the event entitling to cover and you will remain your own insurer for the balance.

You will be given all required information on how to report your loss.

In addition, if you withdraw from the trip due to illness or accidental bodily injury, you must send to the Travelhorizon doctor all informations or documents required to check the grounds for your request.

 CHAPTER -5-  Cover exclusions

In addition to the exclusions common to all covers (see Chapter 3 of Administrative Provisions), the following events are also excluded :

5.1 illnesss or accidents covered by an initial medical diagnosis, a treatment, relapse, worsening or admission in hospital between date of reservation of your trip and date of subscription of this Contract,

5.2.   pregnancy, save straightforward and unforeseeable complications, termination of pregnancy, delivery, in vitro fertilization and its consequences, 

5.3.     failure to comply with the vaccination schedule,

5.4.     any medical event the diagnosis, symptoms or cause of which are mental, psychological or psychiatric, and which did not lead to over 5 day admission in hospital after subscription of this Contract.

5.5.     epidemic, pollution, natural disasters covered by Law No 82.600 dated 13 July 1982 and their consequences,

5.6 accidents caused by practice, at every level, of mechanical (car, motorbike, all motorvehicles, etc) and aerial sport
